Śiva mantra-Śuddhaspatika

. Śuddhaspatika samkāśam trinetram pancavaktrakam|

Gangādharam daśabhujam sarvābharana bhūṣitam||

Nīlagrīvam śaśāṅkāṅka nāgāyagnopavītanam|

 Vyaghrā carmottarīyam ca varenyam-abhaya pradam||

Word Meanings:

  • Śuddhaspatika : pure clear crystal
  • samkāśam : same like the clear sky
  • trinetram : three eyes
  • pancavaktrakam: five faces
  • Gangādharam : with the celestial  river Ganges on his head
  • daśabhujam: ten arms
  • sarvābharana : all kinds of jewelry
  • bhūṣitam: adorned
  • Nīlagrīvam: blue color neck
  • śaśāṅkāṅka : with moon
  • nāgāyagnopavītanam: snakes as sacred thread
  • Vyaghrā : tiger
  • carmottarīyam ca: skin around his waist
  • varenyam-abhaya : the most eminent, excellent Lord – security
  • pradam: granting 
  • Translation:
Lord śiva the most eminent in granting security to his devotees, who is pure like crystal, and sky, who has three eyes, five faces, ten arms, with the sacred river Ganges on his head, adorns with all kinds of jewelry, who has a blue color neck (because of poison that came out of the ocean’s churning which he swallowed to save all beings) , wears moon as his crown, snakes his sacred thread, and tiger’s skin round his waist.
