6.            Kūjamtam Rāma Rāmeti madhuram madhurāksharam

Āruhya kavitāśākham vande vālmiki kokilam||

  • Word meanings:
    • Kūjamtam: murmuring sounds;
    • Rāma Rāmeti: names of the delightful, pleasing Rāma;
    • Madhuram: melodious;
    • Madhurāksharam: mellifluous words;
    • Āruhya: grew from;
    • Kavitāśākham:  branches of the poetry;
    • Vande: salutations;
    • Vālmiki: the first poet Vālmiki;
    • Kokilam: Indian cuckoo bird.
    • Translation:
I murmur the melodious sounds of Rāma, which are delightful and pleasing names of the Lord.  My salutations to the first poet sage Vālmiki who wrote mellifluous words that grew from the branch of the poetry.
