3. Ayurnaśyāti paśyatām pratidinam yatikshayam yavvanam|

Prātyanti gataḥ punarṇa divasāḥ kalo jagadraksakaḥ|

Lakshmistoyatarangḥ bhangacapala vidyutccalam jīvitam|

Tasmātmām śaraṇā gatam śaraṇā datvam raksha rakshadhuna||

  • pratidinam : everyday
  • yatikshayam :control from destruction
  • yavvanam: youth
  • Prātyanti : day ends
  • gataḥ : gone

  • kalo: time
  • jagadraksakaḥ: savior of the universe
  • Lakshmistoya: like Lakshmi(Goddess of wealth)
  • tarangaḥ: waves or ripples of water
  • bhanga: breaks/ disturbs

  • vidyutccalam: flash of lightening
  • jīvitam: life
  • Tasmātmām:
  • śaraṇā: refuge
  • gatam: gone for ever
  • śaraṇā: protect
  • datvam: seeks
  • raksha: to protect
  • rakshādhuna: entrusted with protection
  • Translation:
Oh Lord with the passing of every day the duration of life seems to shorten and youth decays. The days that are gone do never come back; verily time is the devourer of the world. Fortune is as futile and short lived as ripples on the surface of water, while life is momentary like the flash of lightening. Therefore you the savior of all, do you even protect me now who seeks refuge in you.
